I’m looking for enthusiastic, talented and dedicated individuals to help me expand my tutoring business in the Brighton and Hove area.
As a self-made Maths tutor in the industry since 2017, starting anew in 3 different locations, I know what it takes to run a successful private tutoring business. My testimonials speak for themselves, and as such I often have more demand than I have capacity for. Hence, I am looking to employ additional local tutors to teach students through my tutoring business. You would be working the hours you want to work (and take on the students you wish to take on!) and I would provide suitable students, handle the initial client arrangements and offer ongoing guidance and support on how to optimise your tutoring.
Why become a private tutor?
To be a tutor you need to know that you are providing an elite service that comes with certain expectations, and it’s not just in the final grades for the student. You will need to be patient and calm, and give off an aura of confidence in the student. Particularly in Maths, confidence is a huge part in how a student can go from failing to passing with flying colours, so a tutor should never lose their temper or patience with a student. Many people will struggle with this, however if patience, calmness and understanding comes naturally to you, then you’re halfway towards making an excellent tutor! The other half is academic excellence, which can be earned through experience but I am mostly looking for the tutors with raw talent in their field – please only apply if you have the grades and/or talent to back up your tutoring.
If you have the whole package above, then you will almost certainly make an excellent tutor! Most would find this role challenging, but with the right personality and skill set you will find that private tutoring is an excellent, easy and, in most cases, fun way to earn. Key benefits include:

The Role
Requirements
- A degree from a reputable university in a relevant field, or successfully working towards such a degree
- Excellent grades from the level you wish to tutor – ideally 95+% average at A Level Maths
- Some experience (not necessarily paid) of tutoring or teaching (ideally GCSE or A Level) in a relevant subject
- Very reliable long term
- Based in Brighton (or surrounding areas) and not intending to move anytime soon
- Car and valid driving licence, unless you plan to take public transport to clients’ homes (not ideal)
- Right to work in the UK

- High level of subject knowledge and understanding at the level you’d be tutoring
